Alan Martin Front-End Developer

About Me

As a former Chef having worked at some of Canada’s top restaurants, I bring a unique set of skills to Front-End Web Development. With my attention to detail, eye for design and my ability to work with others, I can turn problems into solutions. After 10 years of working in the culinary industry, I decided to leave my passion for food at home, and to use what once drove me as a Chef, in Web Development. As a recent grad of Juno College’s Web Development Immersive Bootcamp, I have learned what it takes to make a website responsive and accessible using modern frameworks like React JS, while also building strong foundations in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS and SCSS.

The ability to continuously learn and build upon existing knowledge in Web Development was the reason why I decided to switch careers. My passion for learning is what made my career as a chef as successful as it was, and I’m excited to do the same as a Jr. Front-End Web Developer.

HTML | Sass

Delicious is a fully responsive three page PSD conversion. Using modern CSS layout tools, like Flex Box, allowed reduced media queries and a layout that is scaled to best fit the user's device.

React | HTML | Sass

PrintShoppe was my first application built with React JS and Firebase. This app highlights my journey as a photographer and acts as a marketplace for prints from my collection.

Trivia TV

jQuery | HTML | Sass

Trivia TV is a fun and interactive trivia game and my first introduction to paired programming. The user is given a chance to test their knowledge of pop culture with ten randomly generated questions from the Trivia DB API.
